Friday (6.27) afternoon, car all packed and all ready to hit the road to Manti!
I made really good time considering we were driving in rush hour, the construction traffic I hit a little after the Orem/Provo area and the 20 minute delay off to the side of the road in the small city of Moroni while the officer, who stated he "had a hard time keeping up with me", issued me a speeding ticket. That's alright though, I deserved the ticket...I was going pretty fast the whole time I was driving.
Arrive in Manti & meet up with Aunt Tanie! Yay!!
Turkey Dinner and then off to the pageant with as many blankets as we can carry!
The Mormon Miracle Pageant!
At the foot of the Majestic Manti Temple and under a beautiful blanket of stars, we thoroughly enjoyed the message of the pageant which is the message of the restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the coming forth of the Book of Mormon and the pioneer trek west to Utah.
Back at Tanie's...Up talking till yes, 4 am.
6.28.14-Saturday morning about 8:30 am. Meredith and I go for a 3 mile jog...it was so nice, a little warm but hardly any cars on the road and beautiful scenery all around us.
Breakfast: Gary made us homemade biscuits and gravy, sausage, hash browns and grape and apple juice for breakfast. So good!
Next stop...Fremont Indian State Park.
Picnic at Centennial Cabin.
Krystal, Tanie and I enjoying "ants on a log"
And the very special treat Gary & Tanie make for their guests...the most delectable homemade pie!
Tanie served us peanut butter pie, coconut creme and key lime pie. Yum-my!
The best part of this whole weekend is just being able to spend time together, especially with Aunt Tanie since we don't get to see her too often. As sisters we get along great. We have our moments of disagreement, but 99% of our time is spent laughing, quoting movies and joking with each other. (Shantel likes pie, blankets, spiders...) What a blessing it is to have this time to spend together (we missed Shelana, Heather and Mom...hopefully they can come next year!)
