Our evening of fun first began with a trip to the "treat store" to get a treat that the girls could have if they were good. The girls picked out starbursts, doughnuts, Sunny D and watermelon. I guess they thought I said treats with an s instead of treat. But that's ok. Best part of being an aunt is being able to spoil my nieces.
On the drive to Grandma B's (Corinne being a very agricultural area with dairy and farmland everywhere) I saw four cows in a pasture. Trying to keep the girls entertained, I asked them, "How many baby cows are there in that field?" Excitedly, Rylee and Hailey answered, "Three! There's three babies and one Mommy!" Then catching me off guard, Hailey asked, "Where's the Daddy cow? There needs to be a Daddy cow!" I smiled at her observant, innocent question. Where was that Daddy cow?!
At only 3 years old, Hailey recognized God's plan for families and the divine structure of His special designated unit-the family. As stated in the 1995 proclamation from the First Presidency, "We believe that marriage between a man and woman is ordained of God ... and is essential to His eternal plan. Children are entitled to birth within the bonds of matrimony, and to be reared by a father and a mother who honor marital vows with complete fidelity." (The Family: A Proclamation to the World).
In the words of Elder L. Tom Perry, "In a world of turmoil and uncertainty, it is more important than ever to make our families the center of our lives and the top of our priorities."
Thank you Heather & Russell for the Christ-like example of making your family the top of your priorities and teaching your three beautiful girls the principles of the gospel.
