Part I: Childhood (Birth to 11 years old), Section 1 - My Name
What is your full name?
Tahsha Tavoian
Why were you given your name? Were you named after someone else?
My Mom had a cousin name Natasha and according to Mom, it was a name she had always liked. My Dad didn't like the "Na" on it. So I was simply named Tahsha. The spelling comes from my dad who wanted to make sure it was pronounced "TAH-shuh" and not "Ta-shuh". So taking the spelling from Lake Tahoe (My Dad's favorite lake) an extra "h" was added to produce Tahsha.
Did you have a nickname as you were growing up?
Nope. My dad isn't a fan of nicknames. I recall him saying on a few occasions, "if we wanted people to call you that [a nickname] your Mom and I would have named you that. We wanted people to call you Tahsha, so that's what we named you." However, throughout high school and college, some of my close friends would call me "Tahsh" dropping the "a" on the end leaving it as a single syllable.
