Adapted from John Grogan's sentimental bestseller, Marley & Me is essentially the story of a couple of newlyweds and their crazy dog -- with Grogan played by Owen Wilson, and his wife, Jenny, by Jennifer Aniston
John and Jenny were just beginning their life together, exploring the everyday adventures of starting a family. They were young and in love, with a perfect little house and not a care in the world. Then they brought home Marley, a wiggly yellow fur ball of puppy love. Life would never be the same.
Marley & Me isn't a canine comedy with a little romance on the side. There is a dark center to the movie with difficult adult questions on the table the dog is chewing the legs off of -- marriage, parenting, life and loss, served up in big emotional packages, which, by the way, are not featured with big red bows in the ads.
It was advertised as a comedy and PG but probably should have been a drama/comedy and rated as PG-13.
Overall, I thought it was a cute show and enjoyed it along with it's messages essentially about life.
