R TKA = Right Total Knee Arthroplasty or total knee replacement
We get 5 to 10 of these a month. It was about 1030 am and we (the nurse and I) were waiting for our TKA patient to come to the floor from recovery. As I set up the room for the patient I started to make small talk with the wife of the patient who was also waiting. We got to chatting and guess what? She's from Malad! Not only is she from Malad, but she's in my home ward and she and her husband are Carson's primary teachers! I had no idea who she was or where she was from until she told me! Crazy place to meet and become acquainted - the hospital. Yay for more Maladites chance meetings! They sure do seem to happen on a regular basis.
