Kenny, DiAnn, Geir, Grandma and I had the opportunity to tour the Draper Temple during the Temple Open House on February 26, 2009. What a beautiful temple (as they all are)! I was touched by the short video that was shown prior to the tour.
Paraphrasing Elder Holland from the video, he states that he cannot imagine the traditional, in all its glory, paradisiacal heaven without his wife and children. It just would not be heaven for him. He said that he and his wife are not just cozy together here on earth--it is something more than just enjoying one another's company. I thought of my parents and grandparents and the love that they have for their spouses. I thought of how that love is evidenced by the daily acts of kindness that they do for one another. Someday, I too want the relationship that Elder Holland describes with someone very special.
As we were leaving the temple the words of the primary song came to my mind,
"I love to see the temple, I'm going there someday; To feel the Holy Spirit, To listen and to pray. For the temple is a house of God, A place of love and beauty. I'll prepare myself while I am young; This is my sacred duty.
I love to see the temple. I'll go inside someday. I'll cov'nant with my Father; I'll promise to obey. For the temple is a holy place Where we are sealed together. As a child of God, I've learned this truth; A fam'ly is forever."
