Good-bye 2008, Hello 2009

Due to the lack of a camera, I have no pictures to post. However, I can write a few words concerning my unforgetable end of the year.

Justin left the chilly Utah weather (on the 23rd of Decemeber) and flew to the sunshine in Orlando to spend some time with Steve & Gloria. I stayed behind with the glorious snow! Christmas day the storm hit and we were literally snowed in. The county called all the families informing them of road closures and asking us to stay home. So for Christmas it was just us.

The 23rd: Mom's Birthday (as well as my great-grandmother's and Joseph Smith's)! Happy Birthday Mom!!!

Dec 25th: Merry Christmas!!!

The 27th: Ashton's 16th birthday.

The 28th I picked Justin up from the airport and we spent the evening with Grandma B. and my family in Corinne.

The 29th...I got my own first ever Sam's club card (woohoo!) but only after a heckle with the Sam's club card people (I'm going back Monday to straighten things out.)

The 30th was Heather's Baby Shower. Thanks to everyone who helped! Heather is due January 15...but...maybe she'll come early?!

My cousin Elyse and her fiancé Dale stopped in Malad! We haven't seen each other for about 5 years and before that brief encounter it had been about 4 years or so, so it was so good to see you! Best wishes on your engagement and upcoming wedding!

A third unsuspected surprise on this day... For the first-time ever, I bailed someone out of jail (not a very pleasant experience for either of us) and I hope to never have to do it again.

31st - New Year's Eve at home: food, games, movies (Ice Age). Happy New Year!

1st - Sledding and Snowmobiling! (This is normally a tradition for the day after Christmas but this year we did it a few days later) We took the snowmobiles and sleds just out behind the house a little ways and spent the majority of the day riding! We tipped the snowmobiles a time or two and Tyson had a lot of fun showing off his skills and talents on the snowmobile! What a fun day! Most everyone came out sledding at least for a little bit. Afterwards, Landon and Nicole fed the pigs, Krystal and Tyson fed the cows. I guess the saying goes, Work Before Play...but this day was the opposite (after all, it was a holiday!) Afterwards, Back to the Future.

Jan 2: Shopping for the Baby! Shantel and I took Heather out shopping for her baby. We got a few more odds and ends things and a stroller with a car seat. Sometimes it's hard to believe I'm going to be an aunt.

Jan 3: 6 am--Yes, I'm at work and just at the end of my shift...I probably shouldn't be blogging at work....but sometimes on the grave shift you need something to keep you awake.

School for me starts Monday. The final semester of my undergrad. Graduation is May 3, 2009. From there, I'm still undecided. I'm told the possibilities are endless. I will be in Malad for the summer. I'm working on putting together my five year high school reunion and will be working at Downata one more summer; (So come visit me!) I've considered going on a mission; I'm still waiting on PA school-I'll try applying again next year since I didn't get in this year; In the mean time I've considered working on a nursing degree which would only be 3, possibly 4 semesters more after a bachelors, I've considered just moving to Boston because I can and want to. I've considered spending some time in London with my brother and his girlfriend; I've also considered just hanging around Logan and just working till December.

At the very end of the Back to the Future trilogy, Doc says, "...your future isn't written yet. You can make it whatever you want it to be, so make it good one."

Each day brings something new. Although I can't predict what will happen, I can control what I do today. I can make decisions today that will positively affect my future. I'll "do my best and leave unto the Lord the rest".

I don't know where I'll end up in 10 years, 5 years, or even 6 months from now, but I know that if I keep the commandments and do my very best everyday the Lord will place me where I need to be.

Oh how grateful I am my future isn't yet written. I'm overwhelmed with gratitude that my life is governed by my free will and not predestination. I make the choice. I choose good or evil, light or dark. Its my choice.

So to my readers, whoever you may be, always remember the choice is yours, you decide what your future will be, "so make it a good one".

Sorry for the lengthy-ness. A picture really is worth a thousand words.

What an eventful time off school you had- with the ups and downs. Have fun being an Aunt for the first time in just a few days! I hope everything goes well. You'll love that baby like your own...I feel that way with David West.
And enjoy not knowing what the future holds! Your options are endless it sounds like- i have no doubt you'll choose the best option for you.
